Proteus
From the ground up Proteus has been developed to provide a simple, scalable display system able to cover areas from 10m2 to 10,000m2. The potential for building extremely large displays is achieved by a unique combination of the low-tech and the high. A Proteus screen consists of an array of discrete pixels (the high technology component) mounted on an array of stainless steel wire ropes, with the pixels connected to the wire rope with copper crimps (the low tech part).
To achieve the design goal of simplicity and reliability the design has primarily focused on developing a robust, low cost but discrete pixel element. The essential components of each pixel are based on established technology, with a proven record of performance and reliability, but combined in a way that is entirely novel.
